French Open 2024 Winners

The French Open 2024 tournament just finished yesterday and champions from all the events are decided. Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are the respective champions from the men’s and women’s singles events. Defending champion Novak Djokovic pulled out from the middle of the tournament due to injury. While Iga Swiatek becomes the champion for the 3rd time consecutively in the last 3 tournaments.

Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova become the women’s doubles final champions whereas Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić are the champions of the men’s doubles competition. Laura Siegemund and Édouard Roger-Vasselin defeated Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski in the final, 6–4, 7–5 to win the mixed doubles tennis title. French Open 2024 Men’s Singles champion: Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz becomes the champion of the men’s singles competition by defeating Alexander Zverev in the final. Alcaraz wins a 5-set hard-fought final (6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2) and becomes the youngest player man to win Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces. He battled against his cramps in the final and recovered from a 2-1 set down by winning the gripping contest. Zverev had a strong hope to get over the line but finally got defeated by the strong grit of Alcaraz, who leveled the head-to-head record at 5-5.

Earlier the defending champion Novak Djokovic pulled out himself due to a knee injury. After Djoker’s withdrawal from the French Open tournament, Janik Sinner becomes the ATP No. 1 tennis player in men’s singles ranking at the end of the game. Rafael Nadal, who has the record of winning the most French Open men’s singles title, for the first time was unseeded in a major tournament since the 2005 Aus Open. He also was unseeded for the first time at the French Open.

French Open 2024 Women’s Singles champion: Iga Swiatek

Two-time defending champion Iga Świątek defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final, 6–2, 6–1 to win the women’s singles tennis title. Świątek became the third woman in the Open Era to win three consecutive French Open titles. She became only the second woman to win the Madrid Open, the Italian Open, and the French Open in the same season after Serena Williams in 2013.

With one more title to her tally, Swiatek now holds the record of winning the trophy in 2020, 2022, 2023 & 2024. Chris Evert from the USA holds the record with seven titles followed by Germany’s Steffi Graf (6). Overall it was the 5th Grand Slam title for 23-year-old Iga Swiatek. She has also won the US Open women’s singles title in 2022.

French Open 2024 Men’s Doubles champion: Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić

Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić won the men’s doubles final of the French Open 2024 with a scoreline of 7–5, 6–3 against Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. Arévalo won his second major men’s doubles title as well and Pavic won the fourth. Alongside Pavic completed his career golden slam in the men’s doubles with this win. He previously won the other three majors and the Olympic gold medal.

It was the ninth seeds’ first grand slam as a pair between Arévalo and Pavić. 33 years old Arevalo won the French Open men’s doubles title in 2022. Whereas Pavic has now won men’s doubles titles in all four grand slams.

French Open 2024 Women’s Doubles champion: Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova

In the women’s doubles final of the tournament, Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam doubles with Katerina Siniakova. They defeated Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani in 7-6 (5), 6-3. The 20-year-old American, Coco Gauff won the first singles title of her career in the 2023 US Open.

The defending champions Hsieh Su-wei and Wang Xinyu decided not to participate together in this year’s championship. Hsieh partnered with Elise Mertens but lost in the second round to Emma Navarro and Diana Shnaider. Wang partnered with Ena Shibahara but lost in the third round to Gauff and Siniaková.

French Open 2024 Mixed Doubles champion: Laura Siegemund and Édouard Roger-Vasselin

Germany’s Laura Siegemund and France’s Edouard Roger-Vasselin won the mixed doubles title after defeating the two-time Wimbledon Champions Desirae Krawczyk (USA) and Neal Skupski (Britain). Siegemund & Roger-Vasselin won the final, 6–4, 7–5 to achieve the mixed doubles tennis title at the 2024 French Open.

This was the second major mixed doubles title for Siegemund and the first for Roger-Vasselin. Roger-Vasselin became the first Frenchman to win the mixed doubles event since Fabrice Santoro in 2005.
