Rahul made his debut for India against Australia on Boxing Day in 2014-15. He had a forgettable Test match, failing to reach double figures in both innings. Rahul scored his first Test century after being selected to open the batting in Sydney’s second Test. It was an inning characterized by poise, skill, and patience. It revealed a lot about the potential of the Indian youth movement.

KL Rahul’s Test career has been a rollercoaster ride thus far. He made an impression with a promising century in his second Test against Australia in Sydney. After that, centuries in Sri Lanka and the West Indies demonstrated that he possessed the ability to succeed at the highest level. He scored his first home Test century against England in 2016. He scored a massive 199 at Chepauk Stadium, missing out on a double hundred by a single. Rahul’s next hundred came at the Oval in 2018, after which his lean patch began. As a result, management dropped him from the squad.

After three years, KL was given another chance to play in England due to Shubman Gill’s injury. He seized the opportunity with both hands, scoring a century at the ‘home of cricket’, The Lords. His final century came against South Africa at the Centurion, securing his spot in the XI.

Rahul’s IPL career was turned upside down when he was named captain of the then-KXIP (now known as Punjab Kings). He scored all of his IPL centuries while captaining the respective franchises. His first IPL century came as Kings XI Punjab captain against the Mumbai Indians in 2019. In 2020, Rahul hit his career-best 138* against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai The day saw KL Rahul, the batsman, at his absolute best. The two other centuries came during the current IPL season when he was captain of the newly formed Lucknow Super Giants.

KL Rahul is a terrific t20 batsman and he has a top-notch wicket-keeping skill. He was in top form in the current IPL, 2022.
