The French Open, often termed Roland Garros, is one of the four major tennis grand slam tournaments. It is regarded as the hardest among the others. It was called the French Championship, since its inception in the year 1891. The first French Open was played on grass courts in 1891. It moved to sand courts from 1892 to 1907 and since 1908 it has been finally moved to the red clay court.
